KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Complete training steps for product knowledge and safety
- Ensure the hydraulics are performed and agreed with sales
- Inspect the bit and ensure the selected bit has the correct nozzles fitted
- Supervision of bit runs implementing optimised parameters
- Supervision of bit runs implementing anti-vibration practices
- Perform dull grade analysis and photograph bit dull
-Record and supply run data for analysis
-Compose a detailed run and dull analysis report for sales
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Discuss the application with the responsible sales person.
Analyse offset well data. The local server will normally provide Bit Records and Bit Run Reports. In somevcases Master Logs or an RSA may be available.
Identify potential hazards. A previous bit run could have been terminated for a variety of reasons, possible candidates include - incorrect drilling parameters, formation changes, rig mechanical failures, faulty instrumentation.
Confirm planned bit type, nozzle requirement installed and hydraulics. It may be necessary to run the hydraulics programme to optimise performance
Prepare a guideline of running parameters formation by formation from the closest offset wells available to optimize performance and overcome identified hazards.
-At the rig site-
At the earliest opportunity inspect the bit for possible damage during transportation and that the nozzles are the correct size and tightness. Confirm intended hydraulics with the Operator representative. Check the bore of the bit for any debris that could obstruct mud flow. Record the bit serial number and size from the bit itself and not the bit box.
Check intended stabilizers are the correct size and in good condition. Make recommendations ifnecessary. Record/copy the complete BHA sheet for future reference.
-Evaluation-
Once the drilling objective has been reached, record immediately the drilling performance achieved. As mentioned previously. Verify that all drilling data has been saved on your laptop before leaving the rig.
Inspection of the bit and the stabilizers for any wear or possible damage, briefly inspect the bit for any unusual events such as trapped material in the bit face or plugged nozzles. Photograph if necessary before breaking out or washing the evidence away.
Dull Grade evaluation
Collection and saving of all the data before departure from the rig site
After every run a Bit Run Report must be prepared and presented to the client.
