Danish Refugee Council is advertising for a highly qualified, Finance officer to work at our office in Tunis, Tunisia.
Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in more than thirty countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief
About the Job:
In coordination with the Finance Manager – Maghreb, the Finance Officer is expected to give a substantial contribution to sound Finance operation of DRC operations in Maghreb, in compliance with DRC and donor(s)’ procedures and policies, as well as local and international legislation.
The Finance Officer will ensure proper Finance procedures and practices are followed and adhered to by all DRC staff in the program area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Processing daily payments in a timely basis and submitting for Authorization. This includes prioritization of payments according to their urgency i.e. closing projects.
•Ensuring that financial procedures and regulations are fulfilled prior to execution of payments including preparation/initiation of bank transfers based upon the reception of full documentation.
• Responsible of daily reconciliation of cash and weekly cash count. Ensure accuracy, correctness and timely submission of all financial documents (including monthly cashbooks) to regional finance on time.
•Make necessary correction on vouchers or scans as advised/commented by the Finance Manager and/or Head of Finance & Administration
•Receiving financial documents including settlements of advances and installments from DRC and, Suppliers and other stakeholders.
•Monitor advances to ensure that all are settled within the approved time limit.
•Ensure that all financial reports are in accordance with DRC and donor guidelines and submitted on time.
•Assist developing budgets when required
•Review of payroll calculations
•Training and liaising with local partners as required
•Follow up with field offices for any transfers submitted.
•Any other duties assigned by Finance Manager and/or Head of Finance & Administration
We offer:
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract. You must be available to start work from 15 August 2016 and be willing and able to work in Tunis (with some possible travel).
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff under Grade C, Level 1
Gross salary: 2,041 TND .
